Miami University’s letterpress studio has supported generations of student creativity. It was originally named the “Curmudgeon Press” in 2011 after the beloved Chair of the Art Department, Tom Effler.

However, over the years the studio became quiet and lacking in activity. To save the studio from being removed and to keep the art of the letterpress alive, I worked in an independent study to rebrand the studio and give it new purpose and life.

Brand Inspiration

Most of my inspiration came from posters that have been and will be created in the GladLab letterpress studio. An example of work created in the lab can be seen in the top right image.
